The Prison of the Havfrue

This set is the second installment of the environment design
Brainstorm project I worked on under the art direction of James Paick.
Here we have The Witcher and his squad infiltrating the prison of the Havfrue, or Mer-people, where they have a captured a powerful mage. This set was briefed as a 'battle alley' where the player would make his way to the entrance of the cell fighting enemies along the way. In this case the enemies would be these slick black eels that come out of oozing holes in the rocks when any water is disturbed. The magical pillars both help keep the Mage in his cell and signal the appearance of the eels via changes in light.
